Kadar Orthodontics Scholarship Program
Kadar Orthodontics awards two scholarships to applicants who meet eligibility criteria. Currently valued at $1,000 each, a Kadar scholarship is presented annually to one male and one female applicant. Congratulations to this year’s winners, Katherine Christensen and Brian Lukacsy (pictured above)! Both awardees received a $1,000 cash award during a ceremony at Scotland Run Golf Club on June 27, 2013.
Applicants must be 1) current/former patients of Dr. Thomas P. Kadar and 2) seniors enrolled in high school with documented plans to attend a technical school or a two- or four-year college.
The scholarships will be awarded to individuals based on their academic and extracurricular achievements during their high school careers as documented by transcripts and reports. Special consideration will be given to students who also have demonstrated civic pride through their volunteerism and/or community service.
Kadar's scholarship committee consists of up to six educators, community and business leaders. One member will receive and track applications, remove any references to the applicant's identity on the application before they are presented to the rest of the committee, record the votes and present the results back to the entire committee. A scholarship candidate's relative cannot be part of the selection process.
Scholarship candidates are required to complete and sign the application for and submit it with the following documents: 1) student resume; 2) a brief statement of the applicant's career goal; 3) current grade transcript or class schedule; 4) an essay; 5) recommendations from two teachers and 6) verification of acceptance at a college or technical school, (copy of acceptance letter, paid deposit or proof of matriculation). Information must be truthful and accurate; applicants will be disqualified if any discrepancies are found.
The 2013 scholarship winners have been determined. Apply for the next year's scholarship in March of 2014.
